St.Gallen is the capital city in the canton of St.Gallen, Switzerland. It is in the north eastern Switzerland, it lies between Lake Constance and Appenzellerland. St.Gallen is named “ the city of a thousand steps” due to the many steps built up both hills. It is also one of the highest cities in Switzerland which at 700 meters above sea level. The Abbey precinct with the cathedral and Abbey Library has been accorded UNESCO World Heritage listing. St.Gallen is a university town and the economic center of eastern Switzerland.

Abbey Library was declared a World Heritage Site By UNESCO, it is one of the most beautiful library buildings in Switzerland. Its collection of handwriting from the early Middle Ages.
Art Museum offers an attractive exhibition programme with international flair. It accommodates a rich collection of paintings and sculptures from the Late Middle Ages to the present.
Natural History Museum offers entertainment and information, such as indigenous mammals and birds, living forest ants, dinosaurs, geology and mineralogy.
Since 1983, the Abbey District of St.Gallen belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the cultural highlight include Carthedral, West Wing, Court Wing, New Palatinate, Karlstor, Armoury Wing and Guardian Angel Chapel.
Karlstor is one of the original eleven gates belonging to the city walls. It was built in 1570 and named after Cardinal Charles Borromeo of Milan.
Schoggiland is Maestrani chocolate factory in Flawil, production can be followed from the visitors’ gallery, no prior booking required.

St.Gallen located in the four-country corner Switzerland, Germany, Austria and the Principality of Liechtenstein , it make St. Gallen became the best starting point for excursions into the Appenzellerland with the Säntis, and to Lake Constance. St.Gallen is only an hour's drive away from Zurich and can also be easily reached using public transport. Austria and Germany are easily reached in a short time. There are half-hourly direct train connections to St.Gallen from Zurich Main Station. St. Gallen has its own small airport Airport St. Gallen-Altenrhein, residing at nearby the Lake Constance. St Gallen’s train station is 200m southwest of the Old Town.
