After arrival in Lucerne check in at your hotel. The city, gateway to central Switzerland, is embedded within an impressive
mountainous panorama. Complete with gable paintings, medieval Chapel Bridge forms the centerpiece of the townscape. Another
important site is the Swiss Museum of Transportation with its own IMAX cinema.
Round trip with Furka steam railway and “Postauto” bus (Fr/Sa/Su only)
Depart from Lucerne in the early morning to Realp. The Furka Cogwheel Steam Railway journey leads through the mountain
scenery of the central Alps, offering up views of summits and glaciers, and past the catchment area for the Rhone. In Gletsch
transfer to the bus which takes you via Grimsel Pass to Meiringen and back by train to Lucerne.
Excursion to Mount Rigi (Sundays only)
Start your Mt. Rigi experience with a boat trip to the train station in Vitznau. Enjoy the ride with the mountain cogwheel railway
under steam to the top of Mt. Rigi. A breathtaking 36’ degree panoramic view across the Alps, of 13 lakes and over the entire Swiss
Midlands through to Germany and France can be enjoyed there. For your way back enjoy the splendor of nature while gliding high
above romantic Lake Lucerne with the panoramic aerial cable car to Weggis and on to Lucerne by boat.
Excursion to Berne – the Swiss Capital
Enjoy the short trip by train to the capital of Switzerland. The medieval air of this city with its many fountains, sandstone facades,
narrow streets and historic towers is unique. The elevated Rose Garden above the Bear Park and the platform of the 101-metre
high cathedral tower offer the best views of the old town round which the River Aare flows. Return to Lucerne at your leisure.
Excursion to Interlaken and the Jungfraujoch
The Jungfrau Railway, which leads through the heart of the mountains and up to the highest train station in Europe (at 3,454
meters above sea level), offers unbelievable views of the mountain giants Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau and of the longest river
of ice in the Alps – the Aletsch Glacier.
Excursion to top of Brienzer Rothorn
Departure by train via Brünig Pass into the Bernese Oberland on to Brienz. The steam train takes about one hour to climb the
1,678 meters difference in height. The magnificent panoramic view of the Bernese and Central Swiss Alps, six diverse mountain
hiking trails and the charming mountain hotel "Rothorn-Kulm" await the visitor on the mountain peak. Return to Lucerne by train.
