Programme

Day 1:

Arrival Geneva
Upon arrival at Geneva airport short train ride to the city center and check in at your hotel. Embedded between nearby Alpine
peaks, the French-speaking city of Geneva lies in the bay where the Rhone leaves Lake Geneva. With its humanitarian tradition and cosmopolitan flair, the city is known as the “capital of peace”. Overnight in Geneva.

Day 2: Geneva – day at leisure
The old town, the heart of Geneva with the shopping and business quarter, is dominated by St. Peter’s Cathedral. Quays,
lakeside promenades, countless parks and elegant shops invite guests to stroll. The «mouettes», a type of water taxi, enable
crossings to be made from one lakeshore to the other, while larger vessels invite visitors to enjoy cruises on the lake. Overnight in Geneva.
Day 3: Train ride Geneva to Zermatt
Today you leave the French speaking part of Switzerland and ride on board of the train along Lake Geneva, through the Rhone
Valley up to Visp. Change trains here and climb on the tracks of the world famous Glacier Express train to the mountain resort of Zermatt. Overnight in Zermatt.
Day 4: Gornergrat -'the' excursion mountain’ since 1898
Europe's highest cogwheel railway climbs the Gornergrat (3,089 m a.s.l.) daily every 24 minutes across stunning bridges, through galleries and tunnels, idyllic forests, past gorges and mountain lakes – with the Matterhorn always in the field of vision.
Surrounded by 29 four-thousand meter peaks, the sun deck offers a panorama that couldn’t be more overwhelming. Overnight in Zermatt.
Day 5: Transfer Zermatt – Interlaken
Short walk to the train station in Zermatt. Board the train and ride down to Visp. Change trains here and in Spiez, before you
arrive in Interlaken. The village lies on an alluvial plain between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz and is presided over by the three
mighty mountains Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau and the starting point of numerous activities. Overnight in Interlaken.
Day 6: Excursion to the Jungfraujoch
From Interlaken Ost the trains leave for the top of Europe, the Jungfraujoch. Change trains either in Grindelwald or Lauterbrunnen and then again at “Kleine Scheidegg” to board the Jungfrau Railway, which leads through the heart of the mountains up to the highest train station in Europe (3.454 a.s.l.). A lift takes visitors to the observatory, from which one has a magnific view of the surrounding mountains and the Aletsch Glacier. Overnight in Interlaken.
Day 7: Departure train ride Interlaken – Geneva
Today the train takes you back through the Bernese Oberland via Berne, the Swiss capital (change trains here) and along Lake
Geneva to the airport of Geneva.
